Come discover the art of blacksmithing! Participants will learn the basics of blacksmithing safety, techniques, and concepts all leading to a final project over the two day class. If you've ever wanted to learn how to wield a hammer and bend metal this is the class for you! Class will run April 1st and 2nd from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Limited spaces available!

Victorian Mother's Day Tea

Join us as we celebrate Mother's Day while enjoying afternoon tea in the Historic Farm House. Learn about Queen Victoria and the creation of Mother's Day in the Victorian era. Join us at the lovely Steppingstone Farm House for afternoon Tea featuring Professional Storyteller & Historic Reenactor Alisa Dupuy.

Tickets must be pre-purchased.  Appropriate for adults and children over 8 years who have proper table manners and are able to pay attention for an hour. 

Mommy & Me Children's Tea

Join us as we celebrate a Mother's Day tea in the Historic Farm House. Join us at the lovely Steppingstone Farm House for afternoon Tea with your grown-up and your favorite doll or teddy. Fall Harvest & Craft Festival

This event features apple cider pressing & butter making, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, hayrides, craft vendors, demonstrations of historical trades, live bluegrass music, food, kids activities & more!

Mother's Day Tea

This formal tea is a lovely treat for Mom, price includes tea with modern and medieval treats, a medieval through renaissance fashion show with historic music, and your admission to the Medieval Days event beforehand. As this is a performance, doors will close promptly at starting time to not interrupt the program.  Please arrive at the Stone Farm House between 12:45-1pm or 2:45-3pm.

Hacking History- See it, Make it, Take it

A NEW Maker Festival featuring hands-on crafts for you to learn, make, and take with you!  

This event will also have craft vendors, demonstrations of historical trades, maker spaces, live music, food, and games.  

Admission $10 adults, members and children 12 & under Free, Pets welcome (leashed and cleaned up after)

Enjoy a 1950's family fun day with pro lawnmower racing, an antique car and tractor show, kids games and crafts, 50's music, food, and museum demonstrations. We'll have fun for the whole family! Basket Weaving - Members Only Event

In cooperation with the Deer Creek Basketry Guild, Steppingstone will host a family friendly Beginner Basketry Class at the Studio for members of the museum.  

Attendees will learn beginner basket making skills and take their own completed project home!

True Treats Historic Candy

Join us at the Studio with Susan Benjamin, author of Sweet as Sin: The Unwrapped Story of How Candy Became America's Favorite Pleasure.

In this talk and tasting, you'll discover the medicines of the mid-to-late 1800s and their new lives as candy in the 1920s; explore the role of Prohibition in sweets - for better or worse (usually better); the sugars of rural communities and its surprising legacy in the abolitionist movement, and much more.

 

Each talk comes with a bag of candies that you'll sample as we go.  $20/person

Harford Holiday Traditions

Dec. 8th, 2018, Saturday 3-8pm

Join us for a glimpse of historic holiday traditions celebrated in Harford County!

The museum will be decorated and the paths and buildings will be illuminated, for families there will be a make and take wooden ornament station, Punch and Judy shows, and visits with Father Christmas.  We will have turn of the 20th century period cooking demonstrations and Christmas exhibits from Harford County's past.  And of course music!

"A Christmas Carol" Tea

Catch the spirit of the holidays early as Dickens comes to life with "A Christmas Carol" as told by Ebenezer Scrooge's sister, Fan. Join us at the Studio for a Victorian Tea featuring professional reenactor and storyteller, Alysia Dupuy from The Ladies of History.

Tickets must be pre-purchased.  Appropriate for adults and children over 8 years who have proper table manners and are able to pay attention for an hour.

Swingin' in the Barn

Friday, October 4th, 7pm-10pm

Join us for a night of Swing Dancing in our beautiful Carriage Barn!

We'll start with a dance lesson at 7pm, instructed by Christine Zukor (included).  Live music from 8-10pm with Baltimore's own Tongue in Cheek band!
