Executive Director 

Steppingstone Farm Museum seeks an innovative individual with vision, skills, talent, and leadership ability in the following areas: Planning and Administration, Promotion and Marketing, Development and Grant Management, Education, Interpretation, and Communications.

 

The Executive Director (ED) oversees the daily operations of Steppingstone Farm Museum according to the vision and plans developed in collaboration with the Board of Directors. 

This position requires a total commitment to fulfilling the Mission Statement of the Steppingstone Farm Museum using AAM Best Practices and Professional Standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • On a regular basis, the ED delivers detailed financial, business and operations reports to the Board of Directors. 

  • On a day-to-day basis, the position requires management of all business functions and supervision of all business and office staff, and volunteers. 

  • The ED is viewed as a leader in the community and in that capacity is expected to participate in collaborative programs organized by local businesses, civic organizations, museums, tourism centers, and schools. 

  • The ED is also expected to be the face of Steppingstone Farm Museum in the eyes of the public. This will entail appearances and participation in public events and media as requested.

  • Maintains museum records pertaining to all areas of museum operation.

  • Completes grant applications, manages grant projects, and ensures accurate and timely reporting for all grants.

  • Manages private event site usage and museum site usage, personally oversees all special events and special programs.

  • Manages hiring and training of staff,.

  • Manages volunteer recruitment and training.

  • Ensures that the museum offers diverse programs, workshops, and classes.

  • Manages exhibit development for permanent and temporary exhibits.

  • Prepares, signs, and manages contracts with outside contractors, performers and vendors.

  • Places all advertising and prepares press releases and flyers for events and programs.

  • Designs and distributes all marketing materials for museum events, including print, social media, and website.

  • Ensures timely distribution quarterly newsletter, monthly e-news, and other museum correspondence.

  • Plans Annual Dinner Meeting and Volunteer Awards Ceremony.

  • Oversees all maintenance and cleaning aspects to property (grounds, structures, and interiors).

  • Works with State Park personnel regarding maintenance and completes paperwork for approval (DNR & MHT)

  • Covers any and all museum needs not met by other staff, other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with four years of relevant management and supervisory experience, demonstrated experience with above listed responsibilities, focus on sustainability and professionalism

 

Compensation: 

Professional Salaried Position - Full Time exempt – paid bi-weekly based on 80 hours

Benefits:  Flexible hours (some evenings and weekends required), paid  holidays, paid vacation time based on longevity, no medical or other benefits.
