Tours

Steppingstone Museum offers a variety of prearranged tours for school groups, civil organizations and senior groups.

 

  • Guided - This tour is approximately two hours long and is a general tour during which our guides show the visitors through the museum. This tour is limited to 50 children and we ask that 6 adults (including teachers) be present.

  • Butter - This tour is intended for 1st graders and above. Visitors churn butter, wash laundry and tour the museum. There is no additional fee; however visitors supply cream and crackers for the butter making. This tour last approximately 3 hours and is limited to 50 children. We ask that 6 adult (including teachers) be present.

  • "1900" - This tour is for third grade and above and is somewhat more involved. Visitors participate in some of the day-to-day chores that were done at the turn of the century. Our visitors cook chicken noodle soup or beef stew on the woodstove, churn butter, and wash laundry. There is no additional fee for this tour, however visitors supply the ingredients from a list provided by the museum.  This tour last about four hours and is limited to 50 children. We ask that 6 adults (including teachers) be present.

  • The above tours allow time to enjoy a picnic lunch in our pavilion and a visit to our Museum Store. We carry a assortment of inexpensive souvenirs. hand-made crafts, candy, jellies, books, toys, etc. Please indicate your plans on the reservation form.

  • Fees - Our charge for any tour is a minimum of $25.00. There is a fee of $3.00 per student, parent, teacher. A deposit of $25.00 is required with your completed reservation form. The balance may be paid on the day of your visit. Upon receipt of your form and deposit, a confirmation and relative materials will be mailed to you.  If you have any questions or to schedule a tour, you may call our office (410) 939-2299. The museum reserves the right to cancel tours in the event of bad weather.
