Do you love History? Farming? Nature? Sharing the stories of the past and a special place? Working with positive, creative people who love what they do and where they work? Would you consider a year of service at "Your Country Retreat?"
You can make a difference in Harford County by recruiting and training volunteers for school programs, tours, and signage to share our agricultural heritage and in planting native vegetation and removing lead paint to protect the state park and the Chesapeake Bay. Working in a small museum setting is fun and challenging- never a boring day! Our location within Susquehanna State Park means we integrate natural and cultural history to share the heritage of humans living with the land throughout Maryland's history. Volunteer Maryland will prepare you with their outstanding training in volunteer recruitment and management. We will prepare you with training in interpretation, environmental and history education, exhibit design, Past Perfect museum software, planting, and external care of historic structures. This can be a great year of experience for work in the museum or parks field or volunteer management and problem solving for anywhere you go in the future.
This position is an exciting opportunity for you and the museum as we partner with Volunteer Maryland to be a service site for their program and to host a Volunteer Maryland Coordinator! Learn more about the Volunteer Maryland Program and see complete application.
